De Efteling
____________________________________________________________________________________________
The Kano vijver was one of the first rides in the Efteling. It was one of the 3 lakes in the park on this one were canoes. on one was the Roei vijver and the third lake has still the Gondoletta. The Kano vijver had it's station located between Gondoletta and Piraña in the forest. There was a small building with a clock.
The canoes were a very popular ride with a very low cappacity. There were 40 canoes which could held up to 2 people making 80 visitors per ride in total. The maximum time on your canoe was 20 minutes so you could know when the park was growing this ride would be a real problem for the cappacity. The boats were available in 5 colors: Red, green, yellow, orange and blue.
During the building of De Vliegende Hollander they had to block of the lake for a part, they built a dam. A long time there was hope the canoes will stay and open again with less boats. But during the building of Joris en de Draak Efteling removed the platform, so we can say the canoes are now really gone.
Did you know:
The canoes actually have been removed because of the less space and the problems with De Vliegende Hollander?
- Popularity Attraction
This attraction was popular in the summer.
- Waiting Times
This attraction had waiting times of 5 to 10 minutes because most people didn't want to wait very long for this. But the ride was most of the time totally full.
- Theming attraction
This attraction was not themed, it was just a platform with colored canoes. It was always a lake in the forest between Piraña and Pegasus. After building De Vliegende Hollander there was not much forest over, and the ride also closed.
- Riding Time
The riding time was as long as you want with a maximum of 20 minutes.
- Disordering of attraction
The Kano vijver was always open during the season. Only in the winter and with darkness in the summer it was closed. After building De Vliegende Hollander it was on the map for 2 years as open while it was actually closed. After 2008 it removed from the park map, and the ride was definetly gone.
