Speeltuin was one of the oldest rides of Attractiepark Slagharen. It opened in 1964 and it was the first ride of the park. However, The park was already one year older. It started as a vacation park with ponies. To give guests more pleasure they built a playground. One year later the first funfair rides will be placed.
The playground had different play objects, such as a slide, a family swing or a boat swing. In those times big rides were not very frequently seen. So a big playground was enough for a whole family.

That Speeltuin is not only the ride where it started for Attractiepark slagharen? Speeltuin (playground) is a starters ride for many themeparks. Drievliet & Efteling in The Netherlands all started with a huge playground (and some other small rides) It was years ago the best ride to start with. It was cheap, and a whole family had fun in this ride.

The attraction was not themed, but nicely painted. Bright colors were used and the whole playground was built on the sand. Giving it a little western look.
