This was once the biggest roller coaster in europe. It was the first one with 2 corkscrews and 2 loopings. And today it is still a very exciting rollercoaster. The lift goes slow, you see the forrest, and the rest of the park. And then you go down. Trough 2 loopings. A curve to the right. With 2 corkscrews and a bayern curver, the ride will end in the brakes. Can you stand on your legs after this ride?
The white track, and green supports give a soft and beautiful effect on the ride. But the ride is rough. This rollercoaster is built by Vekoma (dutch company) and this rollercoaster had 4 trains in his life. from 1981 were trains from Arrow. These were red with yellow lines. The second pair of trains were made by vekoma in 1990. These were red, with the python logo on the front. In 2005 the python did get new trains, again. This time built by kumbak. This trains were also red, but with a snake print. The front coach had also eyes. And the last coach had a tail. But this set was very hard, and had many problems. In 2011 the efteling decided to buy new trains, from vekoma. These are also red with a snake print. Without eyes. There is an E on the front, and it's a little bit orange.

Did you know:
The python lost an upstop wheel in 2006. A year later, an accident happened at the python. There was a problem, and people had to get out the train. It was standing on the lifthill. But while people were getting out, the train decided to go over the top, and completed the course, with passengers. They were fast enough to close the bars. No one was hurt. This was one of the reasons to buy new trains. The train stucked many times on the lift, and was very noisy.
- Popularity Attraction
It is the most famous rollercoaster in the netherlands. But international seen Goliath in walibi holland is more famous. For the dutch people, this is mostly the first rollercoaster they have done with loopings.
- Waiting Times
In the winter, there is a waiting line from less than 5 minutes. But during the summer, it is possible to wait 60 minutes.
An average waiting time is 30 minutes. But we warned you. The sign by the entrance of this coaster never say the right waiting times. Most of the time it says 90 minutes, while it is 30 minutes.
- Theming attraction
This attraction has not a great theming. The trains are snakes, the station has since 2011 a little bit theming. But the biggest part is just the coaster in a beautiful landscape. Before Joris en de Draak it was nicer.
- Riding Time
The riding time is 2 minutes. (1 minute on the lifthill)
- Disordering of attraction
This attraction is always open. But it is closed in the winter when it is to cold or to slippery.
It has sometimes technical problems with the trains and the lifthill.
